So, it’s been almost 2 years since my first and, sadly, only blog post to date…oh, the shame!
I had started out with such good intentions, but it turns out that consistently finding time in the week for creative activities can be very tricky indeed.
Anyway… I’m back now and tentatively planning to make it a regular thing, so perhaps watch this space. Or not. We’ll see.
So many things have changed here at Rebel since that first day; constructing my own Ikea’s best standing desk, with just me and Azar against the world. We are now up to 9 permanent employees- one of them being Julija, my very own minion!- and it’s starting to feel more and more like a proper little company. It’s strange, but exhilarating.
I have also started to co-run a local workshop meetup called NottsDevWorkshop (sorry for the obligatory, shameless plug!) with a lovely lady called Gosia. It’s for everybody to profit and learn from and the topic changes every month; it’s a great way to engage with the local tech community that has welcomed me to numerous events for the past few years, so it’s really rewarding J it has been a long time in the making though- we’d been talking for about a year before launching it this March just gone. A lot of hard work went- and continues to go- into organising the monthly event, but it’s one more thing to cross off my to-do list…along with this blog!
Finally, in a bid to improve my knowledge and general ability in the industry that I recruit for, I have reignited the learning and development I started around a year ago, by taking codeacademy up on their very generous offer to teach me all about web development and help to create my very own website, which will no doubt be an on-going struggle, but worth it in the end.
So, I’m hoping to be able to keep you all informed on my progress in the areas I’ve briefly mentioned above, as I go along every week month, and give helpful tips and advice on things such as how to write a good CV, places you may have not thought about going to look for resources to aid learning, what companies want from you, and developments in my world.
